I have three kids, one of them is adopted. My bio daughter and I both have celiac disease. My oldest (bio kiddo) had pretty severe ADHD, depression, and a suicide attempt at age eight. My youngest son (adopted) is a highly functioning kiddo with autism and an IQ above 140. My kids are what drive me to find alternatives to traditional medication and the usual prescribed treatments.

Now about me, I dropped out of college the first time one semester shy of my senior year. I was a double major in psychology and social work. (The rest of that is a story for when we meet!) I decided to go back to school a couple of years later to become a nurse. In the meantime, I joined the military. I was a nurse for about nine years when I decided to go back to school to get my masters in midwifery. Although I have worked for a couple of private practices and delivered babies both here and in Africa, it is not where my heart lies anymore.

I want to really make a difference in the lives of people. 20 minute office visits aren't doing that. I want to change how healthcare is delivered. I want to help people with mental health as much as physical health. I want to be able to empower people to be the best version of themselves possible. To say I am in some way involved in the process of others making healthy choices is my dream.
